The short version

Ring Glance shows your Oura Ring data on your Wear OS watch. We built it to touch as little of your data as possible:

The rest of this policy explains each of those in detail.

1. Who we are

Ring Glance is an independent, third-party app for existing Oura Ring owners. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Ōura Health Oy ("Oura"). "Oura" and "Oura Ring" are trademarks of their owner.

Nakhla Computing LLC is the data controller for the personal data described here — meaning we decide why and how it is processed on your device. Oura is a separate, independent controller for the data you hold in your Oura account; your relationship with Oura is governed by Oura's own privacy policy. When you connect Ring Glance, you authorize Oura (via OAuth) to share your data with us for display on your watch.

2. What data we access

With your explicit consent, Ring Glance reads the following from the Oura API on your behalf. Most of this is health data — a "special category" of personal data under GDPR Article 9:

Ring Glance is read-only. The Oura API has no ability to write user data, and we never attempt to.

Permissions we hold but don't currently use. Your Oura authorization also grants Ring Glance access to two things the app does not read or display today:

We currently read neither your profile fields nor your ring's size/hardware. The profile permission is reserved for a planned optional feature — notifications when new data is ready — that would use only your Oura account identifier to route the notification to your device. We will update this policy before any such feature reads that data.

3. Why we process it, and our legal basis

We process this data for one purpose: to display your own Oura data to you on your watch's app screens, tiles, and complications. We do not profile you, score you, or use your data for any other purpose.

Under GDPR our legal bases are:

4. Where your data is stored, and how we protect it

5. What we do not do

6. Retention

We keep only the latest value for each metric, and no longer than necessary to display it. As new data arrives it overwrites the old, so we don't build up a history on your device — with one exception: body-temperature deviation, where we keep about the last 29 days so the four-week temperature trend can be drawn. That window is fixed: each update replaces the whole window, so it never grows beyond about a month. We keep the minimum needed to show your current data quickly and offline — consistent with GDPR's data-minimization and storage-limitation principles. Because storage is on your device, uninstalling the app or using "Disconnect from Oura" removes the data. One difference worth knowing: "Disconnect from Oura" also revokes Ring Glance's authorization on Oura's side, while uninstalling alone only deletes the watch's local copy — the access grant you gave remains on your Oura account until it expires or is revoked. If you uninstall without disconnecting first, you can still revoke Ring Glance's access at any time from your Oura account's connected-apps settings.

7. Your rights and choices

You can exercise most rights directly in the app, instantly:

You also have these rights under GDPR (and equivalent rights under UK GDPR and applicable US state laws such as California's CCPA/CPRA, Washington's My Health My Data Act, and others):

To exercise any right that isn't self-service, contact us at privacy@nakhlacomputing.com.

8. Third parties and sub-processors

We ship no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs of our own, and use no other tracking services.

9. International users

Your data is stored on your own device, so there is no cross-border transfer of your health data by us. Communication with Oura's API may involve Oura's own infrastructure, governed by Oura's privacy policy.

10. Children

Ring Glance is intended for users 18 years and older, consistent with Oura's own minimum age. We do not knowingly process data from anyone under 18.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change our data practices, we will update this policy and its effective date, and — where the change is material — surface it in the app before it takes effect.
